At Morecambe Metals, we have to take the environment and the way in which we approach legislation throughout this industry seriously. Not only are there legal obligations to keep in mind, there are also ethical elements that we must take into consideration if we are to ensure that our impact on the environment is as positive as can be.
With this in mind, there are a number of services that we offer that take the environmental impact into consideration and aim to use processes that are environmentally responsible and ethical.
Vehicle Depollution
Vehicle depollution is an essential process that is used to ensure that no harmful chemicals or pollutants are released into the environment which could cause great harm. This process involves the removal of the following parts of the vehicle:
- Lead-acid battery
- Tyres
- Wheels and lead balance weights
- LPG tank
- Airbags
- Seatbelt pre-tensioners
- Oils, fluid and liquids
- Catalytic converter
- Oil filter
- Switches that contain mercury
Once these elements of the vehicle have been removed, they are then stored and transferred responsibly. We also make sure to keep records of how ELV waste is managed, displaying our commitment to the environment and making sure that there is no negative environmental impact from this process.
Scrap Metal Shredding
The scrap metal shredding service allows us to extract added value material that can be recovered through the use of the Eddy Current Separators. This helps us to meet our recycling targets, ensuring that there is as little waste as possible and most of the material is recycled.
Metal Shearing
We have heavy processing machinery at Morecambe Metals which allows us to process almost any ferrous metal. Our 800-tonne shear means that we are able to take heavy grades of ferrous metals and is one of the many machines that enable us to reach international standards in all of our recycling processes. Being able to take on a wider variety of metals also results in less waste and more materials recycled.
Scrap Metal Balers
Our scrap metal balers provide a huge benefit to our customers as well as the environment. Scrap metal can be bulky and difficult to transport, so we provide a service baling these materials before transportation. Not only does this mean that there is a lower cost to the customer, it also means that the material takes up less space, allowing us to transport more scrap metal at a time, calling for fewer trips, which is clearly of benefit to the environment.
Non-Ferrous Metal Processing
We do not just deal with ferrous metals, but non-ferrous meals as well. As we are able to process a variety of non-ferrous metals, we ensure that there is less waste as these metals can be recycled. It is important to us that our services are comprehensive in order to limit the impact on the environment.

Eddy Current Separators
The Eddy Current Separators allow us to separate different metals. This is an important part of the recycling process and enables us to recycle a greater volume of materials, resulting in lower levels of waste.
Factory Clearance
Disposing of machinery and factory equipment responsibly is incredibly important. This is why we provide a comprehensive industrial dismantling service which enables us to process materials within a warehouse, removing, sorting and recycling what we can.
Our environmental impact is an important consideration at Morecambe Metals, which is why we are passionate about providing responsible and ethical services that help us to have a positive effect on the environment around us.
